Mathis betting on Las Vegas trip paying off here
Grady County Joint Development Authority Executive Director Chadd Mathis is in Las Vegas this week seeking contacts with potential new retailers to locate and open retail establishments in Cairo and Grady County.
Mathis is part of a delegation of economic developers from member cities of the Electric Cities of Georgia who are taking part in RECon 2012.
RECon, which is an annual global retail real estate convention, is being held at the Las Vegas Convention Center and is billed as the “global convention for the shopping center industry and provides networking, deal making and educational opportunities for real estate professions from around the world.”
Over 30,000 attendees and 1,000 exhibitors are taking part.
Electric Cities of Georgia has been working with the Grady County Joint Development Authority and the City of Cairo in identifying and seeking out retail businesses to come to Cairo and Grady County.
The RECon website encourages participants who want to meet with retailers to discuss new or existing leases in their communities to have a presence at the annual convention.
The convention opened Sunday and wraps up today, May 23.
Also attending the convention are Jason Fritz and Michelle Cooper of the Electric Cities of Georgia; Justin Strickland of Albany-Dougherty Economic Development Council; as well as over 950 others from Georgia representing not only the public sector but real estate, developers, retailers, lawyers, and financial institutions.
The Messenger will publish a report on Mathis’ trip in its May 30 edition.
