Chevy’s centennial celebrated at Thomas of Cairo

Grady County’s Chevrolet dealer celebrated this the national car maker’s 100th Anniversary last week.
Customers, employees, civic and business leaders joined Thomas of Cairo in commemorating the momentous event on Friday, Dec. 9. From 11 a.m. until 2 p.m., guests were invited to enjoy refreshments and inspect the Chevy Volt, GM’s electric car. The Volt runs on electricity and when the charge expires, it reverts to a gasoline engine, according to Thomas of Cairo owner Bob Hobson.
Hobson said he is proud to operate the store in Cairo as they begin their 10th year here, “I want to thank Cairo and Grady County for all of their support, whether it be in sales, service or body shop. We are proud to be in Grady County and be a supporter of the school system, Grady County Recreation Department and area charities.”
Hobson said he plans to celebrate being in business in Grady County for many years to come, “We are looking forward to a bright future.”
Some of Chevrolet’s most popular vehicles include Suburban, Tahoe, Corvette and Camaro.
Thomas of Cairo is located at the intersection of U.S. 84 and Eighth Avenue Northeast.
