Silent Auction set for Nov. 15-17

The list of auction items for the upcoming fourth annual Grady County Historical Society’s Silent Auction is beginning to grow.
A retreat to Pigeon Forge, Tenn., and beautiful Lake Seminole are two of the auction items sure to attract lots of bids.
Other items range from oil changes to restaurant gift certificates to steak dinners.
A miniature electric four-wheeler is sure to make some lucky child smile, so parents and grandparents, don’t miss the opportunity to place your bid.
This annual fundraiser will feature something new and different.
Combined with the Silent Auction will be a Chicken Pilau dinner served with all the trimmings – plus a variety of desserts.
Diners will enjoy dining alfresco and, if the weather does not cooperate, tables will be assembled under the shelter of the Georgia State Farmers Market.
Tickets for the pilau will be $7 per person and will go on sale shortly. The dinner will be served from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m.
Auction items will go on display at the Grady County Agri-Center beginning Tuesday, Nov. 15. Bidders may visit the exhibition hall Nov. 15 and 16 from  8 a.m. until 6 p.m. and on Thursday, Nov. 17, from  8 a.m. until 8 p.m.
No bids will be accepted after 8 p.m. on the 17th, according to Auction Chairman Yvonne Childs.
“We hope that lots of folks will come out and join us on Thursday as we wrap up the auction, and will enjoy the pilau dinner with us,” Mrs. Childs said.
All proceeds from the auction and the pilau will benefit the Grady County Museum and History Center.
“Remember, the museum does not belong to the Historical Society. It belongs to all Grady countians and it takes a significant investment to maintain and operate it for the benefit of future generations. This auction is just another way you can invest in the future of our county museum, which is truly an asset of our community,” Mrs. Childs said.
If you are interested in contributing an item to be included in the Silent Auction, contact Mrs. Childs at 229-377-1275.
