State BOE member to speak here

The Georgia State Board of Education member who represents Grady County and other school districts within the Second Congressional District will be here for a public meeting Tuesday night, Oct. 18, at Whigham School.
Dr. Elizabeth Ragsdale will participate in the meeting of the Grady County School System’s strategic planning leadership team meeting at 6 p.m., and then a public forum will begin at 7 p.m., according to Grady County Superintendent of Schools Dr. Tommy Pharis.
Depending on the crowd, Dr. Pharis says the public forum will be held in either the school’s media center or auditorium.
“Dr. Ragsdale will make some brief remarks and then open the floor to a question and answer period. She is excited about coming and eager to discuss issues regarding public education in Georgia,” Dr. Pharis said.
The strategic planning leadership team meeting will take place in the media center at Whigham School. Members of the team include approximately 80 teachers, school administrators, parents and community members. The group has been meeting to determine a long term plan for the school system, which is facing numerous challenges as a result of budget cuts.
