Pamela Grigg to head public library

In a special called meeting Friday the Roddenbery Memorial Library Board of Trustees met and voted unanimously to employ Pamela Stachoviak Grigg as the director of the public library.
Ms. Grigg served from March, 2004 until December, 2009 as the library director for the Taylor County, Florida Public Library in Perry.
“The decision was unanimous. I believe the search and interview committee did a good job. We are looking forward to working with Ms. Grigg,” Trustee Chairman Thomas L. Lehman said Monday.
The new head of Roddenbery Memorial Library could not be reached by phone or by email on Monday or Tuesday for comment.
Ms. Grigg has already made contact with Acting Director and longtime Associate Library Director Janet Boudet and, according to Lehman, the two “hit it off.” Ms. Boudet was a candidate for the library directorship and was one of the top three finalists interviewed for the job vacated last year by veteran director Alan Kaye.
“Ms. Grigg is really excited to have another librarian on staff,” Lehman said in reference to Ms. Boudet.
One of the requirements of the trustees is for the library director to reside in Grady County, and Lehman said the new director is already looking for suitable housing here.
Ms. Grigg will assume her new duties on Wednesday, June 1, 2011.
The new Roddenbery Memorial Library director left Perry to care for her mother in Virginia. Since leaving Perry, she worked from May 2010 until June 2010 as the library administrative assistant at the Wilderness Coast Libraries Cooperative in Monticello, Florida.
She began her career in the library field back in 1989 as a youth services librarian at the Southwest Georgia Regional Library in Bainbridge, a post she held until January 1993.
She earned a specialist degree/post master’s degree with emphasis on library administration at Florida State University in 2003. Ms. Grigg earned her master’s degree in library science at FSU in 1988, and she also holds a bachelor of arts degree in sociology, library science and English from James Madison University in Harrisonburg, Va.
