Fire hydrant testing begins

The Cairo Fire Department is conducting its annual testing and servicing of the city’s fire hydrants.
The work begins today, March 23, and Fire Chief Jim Fielding suggests limiting laundry during normal business hours, 8 a.m. until 5 p.m., Monday through Friday. Fielding recommends residents wash clothes during the evening or early morning. “By doing this, there will be less chance of staining the clothes,” he says.
Fielding says the department will alert the public when the testing is completed.
“The Cairo Fire Department would like to thank citizens in advance for their cooperation and assistance during this period of time,” he says.
