Washington thespians to perform “The Best Christmas Pageant Ever”

HORRIBLE HERDMANS AS PORTRAYED BY WMS STUDENTS, l-r, John Wind, Jeremy Cooper, Lexston Bearss, Madison Pyles, Rachelle Smith and Hannah Dentz.

The Washington Middle School Drama Club has been offering Barbara Robinson’s play, “The Best Christmas Pageant Ever” as its Christmas gift to the community for many years.
This year the tradition continues with another cast taking the roles of the worst kids in school taking over the church’s annual Christmas Pageant. Always fun to enjoy are the antics of the terrible Herdmans and the reaction of the good kids to the Herdmans’ first hearing of the Christmas story. Their reactions to Jesus “being tied up and put in a feedbox” and there being no welfare in Bethlehem are priceless and this year is even more so!
Each year the cast brings to the show its own interpretation of the main characters and this year is no exception. Playing the horrible Herdmans are Lexston Bearss, Jeremy Cooper, Hannah Dentz, Madison Pyles, Rachelle Smith and John Wind. The ordinary family will be portrayed by Darian Powe, Preston Folsom, Sydney Lee and guest actor Tyler Manning.
Some elementary siblings of the actors will play baby angels. They are Meredith Pyles, Eve Kirkland, Elly Groh, Asia Carter, Elizabeth Dousman and Olivia Wind.
Directed by Pat Orr with Judy Pollock as pianist the public is encouraged to attend and enjoy a dose of Christmas spirit.
The curtain rises on Tuesday, Dec. 14 at 7 p.m. at the Cairo High School Auditorium. Admission is $2 per person, and tickets will be available at the door.
