Woman exercising at police gym dies

An autopsy is being performed on a 36-year-old Cairo woman who died while exercising at the Cairo Police Department Thursday evening.
Trudy Bryant and a number of other women were working out in the gym area with Duke Donaldson of the Cairo Police Department. According to Cairo Police Chief Keith Sandefur, Ms. Bryant collapsed and was rushed to Grady General Hospital where she was pronounced dead around 8 p.m. A cause of death was not immediately known.
According to Sandefur, there are a few pieces of equipment in the gym located inside the Cairo Police Department. He said Donaldson was helping others exercise, mainly without equipment. Sandefur said the gym is equipped with only free weights and a pull up bar.
At the time, the gym was open to anyone accompanied by a Cairo police officer. Sandefur said since this incident guests are no longer allowed and the gym is restricted to police department employees only.
