Douglas elected to GMA board

Cairo City Councilman James H. (Jimmy) Douglas has been elected to serve on the powerful board of directors of the Georgia Municipal Association.
Douglas’ election took place at the recent GMA annual meeting held in Savannah.
The Cairo city official will also serve as the president of GMA’s 10th District, which includes cities in Terrell, Lee, Calhoun, Dougherty, Worth, Colquitt, Thomas, Grady, Mitchell, Baker, Decatur, Miller, Seminole and Early counties.
“We are pleased to have Councilman Douglas taking on this leadership position,” said GMA Executive Director Jim Higdon.
Higdon added, “He’s well respected by his colleagues, and I’m sure he’ll provide great leadership to the cities in his district.”
