Time to recycle those old electronics

If you have old computers, electronic equipment or even old cell phones cluttering your home or office, then make sure to mark your calendar for this Friday’s “Go Green & Recycle It” event at the Holder Park Youth Center.
The Boys and Girls Club of Cairo-Grady County, The Marguerite Neel Williams Boys & Girls Clubs of Southwest Georgia, Inc., and Go Green Recycling & Junk Removal, Inc., are teaming up to hold this first ever local event.
The recycling effort will take place this Friday, June 25, from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. at the Holder Park Youth Center, which is home to the Boys and Girls Club and is located at 101 6th St. S.W.
“Do you know that improperly disposing of old cell phones, computers and other electronic equipment causes serious health and pollution problems?” asks Boys and Girls Club Grady County President Nola Daughtry.
She noted, “Most of these items are dumped daily in our landfill without any thought of the hazardous waste that these items produce. Let’s Go Green and keep Cairo and Grady County clean by turning in your old, broken and out-of-date electronic devices.”
