United National Bank is marking a milestone in its history this week and plans to celebrate the occasion with customers and friends this Friday.
Today, May 26, 2010, marks the tenth anniversary of the bank’s founding and bank officials are hosting an anniversary celebration Friday, May 28, from 11 a.m. until 6 p.m.
Refreshments, special prizes and American flags will be given to bank customers and friends who take part in the bank’s celebration.
“We are excited to be turning ten years old. Over the last decade, it has been our privilege to serve the financial needs of the people of Grady County. Because of the support of our many customers, stockholders and friends, we have become one of south Georgia’s fastest growing banks. We appreciate your business and look forward to serving you for many years in the future,” said Michael L. Chastain, president and CEO of United National.
As of Tuesday, the bank’s total assets were over $165 million. Earnings last year of $1,409,000 were recorded and, according to Chastain, in the first four months of this year the bank has earned $509,000.
During the May meeting of the bank’s board of directors, the directors approved a 60-cent per share dividend that is payable to bank stockholders of record as of June 1, 2010. The dividend will be paid on July 1, 2010.
“We continue to grow and remain profitable because of the support of the community and our customers. We thank you,” Chastain said.
The United National president also credits the bank’s success over the last 10 years to its employees.
“Our employees are the very best in banking. They work hard each and every day to provide our customers with superior service. We could not do anything without them,” said Charles M. Stafford, chairman of the board of United National Bank.
United National Bank was formed by Grady countians who were interested in Grady County having a locally owned and operated bank. Originally, the bank was located on 1st St. N.E., but moved to its newly constructed headquarters on North Broad Street in July 2007.
