Got a P.O. Box? Don’t expect Census forms
Local residents who receive their mail at a post office box will not receive a 2010 Census form in the mail, according to local census personnel.
Judith Pinon of the city of Cairo says that Census forms for residents who have post office box mailing addresses may pick up a form at Cairo City Hall weekdays between the hours of 8 a.m. and 5 p.m.
Forms are also available at Questionnaire Assistance Centers (QAC) located at four local sites including the Roddenbery Memorial Library, the Grady County Department of Family and Children Services, the Bethlehem AME Church and the Grady County Senior Center.
QAC volunteers are available at the library Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 1 until 5 p.m.; at DFACS Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. until noon; at Bethlehem AME Church Monday through Friday from 3 until 6 p.m. and at various times during the week at the senior center.
“No other forms will be mailed. All that were being mailed have been mailed, so please pick up a form from one of the QAC locations,” she said.
Ms. Pinon, who is also a QAC representative, reminds local residents that the forms will not be available for pick up at these local locations after April 19.
Thursday, April 1, 2010, has been designated as Census Day and officials are encouraging local residents to submit their Census forms back to the Census Bureau by that date.
For residents who do not submit a Census form, Census personnel will soon begin going door-to-door in an attempt to account for every citizen in accordance with federal law.
