Pedestrian hit by car Monday is flown to Tallahassee hospital

A young Grady County man was seriously injured when he was hit by a car Monday morning north of Cairo.
The 26-year-old was taken via helicopter to Tallahassee Memorial Hospital. The Georgia State Patrol is still investigating the accident and has not released any details of the incident.
Officers with the Grady County Sheriff’s Office who were at the scene Monday at 8:55 a.m. say the young man was hit by a Mercury Marquis traveling south on Highway 111.
It is unclear why the man walked into the path of the car as it neared the intersection of Highway 93. The female driving the Marquis was not injured.
Witnesses told officers the man had recently moved in with relatives who live near that intersection.
More details will be reported when the GSP releases the results of its investigation.
