Halloween will be celebrated downtown Friday

IT’S ALL ABOUT THE CANDY! DOWNTOWN CAIRO MERCHANTS ARE READY FOR TRICK-OR-TREATERS FRIDAY. Cook Electronics has a giant box filled with candy just for the annual Halloween event, 3 p.m. – 5 p.m. Pictured, resisting sugary temptation, l-r, Maricela Aparicio, Jason Connell and Eric Pearce.
The downtown event is scheduled for 3 p.m. until 5 p.m., and all children under the age of 12 who are accompanied by an adult are invited to trick or treat with participating merchants. Those businesses that are taking part will have a sign posted in their window. Adults are asked to help their princesses and goblins cross the street only at corner crosswalks.
Cairo Police Chief Keith Sandefur encourages adults to keep their children safe when trick or treating both downtown and in neighborhoods.
