Syrupmakers fall to Trojans

CHRIS ADAMS goes up high to catch a pass that continued the Syrupmaker’s drive for a touchdown Friday night in the “Valley.”

The Cairo High School Syrupmakers made their first trip to the “Valley” Friday night to battle the Peach County Trojans and came up short after a lackluster first half of play.
During the first period the Trojans ran up 21 points while the Syrupmaker offense sputtered without making a single first down and recording only 13 yards on offense.
However, Coach Tom Fallaw and staff made adjustments at halftime and the Syrupmakers fought back with a vengeance scoring 13 unanswered points.
The Syrupmakers pulled within 8 points of the Trojans, and a late Peach County drive ended with a field goal to preserve the home team’s victory and defeat the Syrupmakers 24-13.
The Syrupmakers return to West Thomas Stadium next week to host Dougherty County Friday.
