ESPLOST passes

Less than seven percent of the county’s 12,534 registered voters bothered to go to the polls by the majority of those who did favored renewing the penny sales tax for schools.
The unofficial results from Tuesday’s election are 654 votes in favor of the ESPLOST and 203 against.
School officials plan to use the money first and foremost to pay off approximately $6 million in debt.
