Cairo gets another stimulus boost

Cairo is one of 23 Georgia communities that were awarded a combined $10.3 million in Community Development Grants funded with stimulus funds from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) under the State Community Development Block Grant Recover Act program (CDBG-R).

The City of Cairo is set to receive $400,000 for drainage and street improvements. Cairo City Councilman James H. (Jimmy) Douglas says the funds will be used improve access for the flood-prone northwest Cairo neighborhood known as the “Hot Bed.”
