Who will win a new car?

For those holders of Jeep raffle tickets, the suspense will finally end this Saturday when the lucky winner’s name is drawn. There will be a maximum of only 400 such tickets put in the drawing at a casino night here Saturday. The Grady General Support League has organized its entire fund raising event around a western theme. Those game players who attend may join the fun in wearing western duds, or come as they choose.
The evening begins at 6:30 p.m. at Cairo Country Club with games starting at 7:30 p.m.
The drawing for the grand prize, a 2009 Jeep Patriot Sport 4 x 2, will wrap up the “Wild West Roundup” casino night, which will include a full western meal, three hours of casino style games in the “Gold Nugget Saloon Game Room” and prize drawings.
Tickets for both the Jeep raffle and casino night event are still available. Casino night tickets purchased in advance are $45 each, or $50 at the door. Reservations are encouraged and may be made by calling 229-377-0236 and leaving a message, or by emailing bathgate@windstream.net. Tickets are on sale at The Cairo Messenger office, located at 31 First Ave., N.E. The office is open weekdays, 8 a.m. until noon, and 1 p.m. until 5 p.m.
Jeep raffle tickets may be purchased at Capital City Bank, Grady General Hospital, Ameris and United National Bank. Any remaining Jeep tickets will be available for purchase during the casino night prior to the drawing scheduled to take place around 10:45 p.m., after other prize drawings. The winner of the Jeep does not have to be present to win.
The other prizes, which game players have a chance to win, include a Pandora slide bracelet, a shotgun and a “Golden Ticket” Jeep raffle ticket. Players will earn a prize ticket for every $500 in play money they have left over at the end of the night. The game dealers will count money at each table and award the prize tickets at 10:30 p.m. Players will then be invited to put their prize tickets in whichever prize drawing they want to participate, either the bracelet, shotgun or “Golden Ticket.” Prize winners must be present to win the bracelet, shotgun and “Golden Ticket.” The shotgun is being donated by Ameris, United National Bank and Capital City Bank; the bracelet is donated in part by Bishop’s Jewelry and the support league.
Bingo will also take place in the “Barnyard” beginning at 8 p.m. and ending at 10 p.m. Players will need to buy a bingo card for $20, and winners of each round will earn a prize ticket to participate in the bracelet, shotgun or “Golden Ticket” prize drawing later that night. Once purchased, bingo cards may be used all evening.
The casino style games available for play include Texas Hold-em poker, black jack, craps, roulette and slot machines. Players will receive $1,500 in complimentary play money for the casino games, and $10 complimentary slot machine coins with the price of their admission. Any player who runs out of play money may purchase vouchers for more play money during the evening.
