Utility bills late going out
If you haven’t received your monthly utility bill from the City of Cairo when you normally do there is a good reason. A conversion to a new billing system has caused the city to be tardy in mailing the bills, according to Cairo City Manager Chris Addleton.
Two city councilmen reported Tuesday night at the city council meeting that constituents had called them to report they had not received their utility bills. The city manager said he was not aware of any problem, but on Wednesday morning he reported that the city had been late mailing the bills.
“We’ve been late on every cycle and we’ve got to get through the four billing cycles and clean up some date before we can get back on schedule,” the city manager said.
Addleton said that a batch of bills went out in the mail Monday so customers should receive them today (Wednesday) and customers will have the normal grace period in which to pay their bills.
