Holiday open house at museum planned

A holiday open house you will not want to miss is coming up on Tuesday evening, Dec. 9.
The Grady County Historical Society is planning a holiday party at the museum downtown that will feature a silent auction and lots of refreshments.
Coordinators say the event is designed as a combination social occasion and fundraiser.
The historical society is trying to raise funds to go toward refurbishment of the former Roddenbery Hardware Building located next door to the museum.
Society members plan to adorn the museum with period decorations which will add to the festiveness of the occasion.
A wide variety of wonderful items will be included in the silent auction and just in time for holiday gift giving.
Author James W. Parrish will be in attendance with copies of his new book “Wiregrass to Appomattox: The Untold Story of the 50th Georgia Infantry Regiment, CSA.”
Parrish recently spoke to the Historical Society and his new book is in the process of publication. Historical Society officials say copies will be on sale the night of the open house.
