United Way benefit planned

UNITED WAY FOR GRADY COUNTY PRESIDENT, Scott Higginbotham, far right, is given a tour of the 500-plus acre Pine Park property by owners Larry Elliott, far left, and Ron Hicks. The United Way will receive a $2,500 donation for each tract of land that is sold at the Pine Park development.

Pine Park Partners, a land development company owned by Ron Hicks and Larry Elliott is sponsoring a free trail ride to benefit the United Way of Grady County on Saturday, Nov. 15, beginning at 9 a.m. Those who are not equestrian inclined can enjoy a hayride through the beautiful 500-plus acre property.
The United Way for Grady County will receive a $2,500 donation from Pine Park Partners for each tract of land that is sold at the Pine Park development, located off Pine Park Road in Grady County. Many beautiful home and farm sites ranging from 6.8 to 39 acres are for sale with financing available through Pine Park Partners.
“Mr. Hicks came to me with the idea of a trail ride as a way to help him with the sale of his property and at the same time help benefit and support the United Way,” said Grady County United Way President Scott Higginbotham. “This (trail ride) could be an exceptional boost to our goal for this year. If he were to sell 10 tracts, that’s $25,000 (at $2,500 a tract.) We appreciate all contributions, but this would be extraordinary and something that we’ve been looking for to put us over the top,” said Higginbotham. United Way for Grady County must collect $125,000 in donations to reach its goal for this year.
Following the main trail ride participants will be encouraged to explore other trails individually or in small groups. Those who are interested in primitive camping on the property the night before can contact Mr. Ron Hicks for details.
The trail riders will tour the property for a few hours in the morning, break for lunch, and continue the tour until mid afternoon. Pine Park Partners will provide a catered lunch at a cost of $10 per plate that includes Boston Butt, Chicken Purlieu, potato salad, coleslaw and all the trimmings.
In addition to allowing the public an opportunity to tour the Pine Park property, Hicks says the event is designed to bring about some community involvement and help the United Way reach its goal.
