The Grady County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the apparent murder-suicide of a mother and daughter on Beth Page Road.
Authorities have not yet released the names of the deceased saying they are awaiting confirmation of their initial assessment from autopsies being performed at the state crime lab.
Capt. Daniel Singletary with the Grady County Sheriff’s Office said Tuesday the mother is 59 years old and the daughter was a juvenile. Evidence at the scene indicates the mother killed the daughter and then turned the gun on herself.
The incident apparently happened Thursday night. An adult male in the home contacted 911 Thursday at about 11 p.m., Singletary says.
When deputies arrived at the south Grady County home at 11:15 p.m., the man was standing at the front door and reported that the mother and daughter were inside.
“Deputies went into a bedroom where the deceased were together, both lying on a bed. They checked for signs of life and neither had a pulse,” says Singletary.
A revolver was found beside the adult female, according to the sheriff’s investigator, and both victims had gunshot wounds to the chest.
The case remains under investigation, Singletary says.
