Perdue campaigned for re-election here Friday

SENATOR DAVID PERDUE encouraged his supporters to make sure their friends and family vote early.

Senator David Perdue rallied the troops in Cairo during a runoff campaign stop here on a chilly Friday morning last week. With his “Win Georgia. Save America.” bus as a backdrop, Perdue told the crowd of about 60, “We really have a fight on our hands here in Georgia.”

Perdue is facing democratic challenger Jon Ossoff in the runoff election. Early voting is taking place now in Cairo at the Grady County Courthouse, and election day is Tuesday, Jan. 5.
During his campaign stop, Senator Perdue asked the crowd how many had already voted. When a majority of the crowd raised their hands, Perdue reacted with pleasure.
“Early voting is important this time,” Perdue said.
Jeffery Jolly, chairman of the Grady County Republican Party, says he was pleased with the turnout. The people braved chilly temperatures to gather in a vacant field behind the local G.O.P. headquarters downtown for the event.
“I was pleased that as many people turned out as did on a cold Friday morning. It’s great that we’re finally being included by statewide candidates and we look forward to more coming to southwest Georgia,” says Jolly.
Also speaking at the rally were Georgia Agriculture Commissioner Gary Black, Sen. Dean Burke, and former Georgia G.O.P. chairman Alec Poitevint of Bainbridge who is Perdue’s campaign chairman.
After the speakers, campaign staffers distributed pens to supporters to sign their names on Perdue’s campaign bus.
Advance in person voting is taking place on the first floor of the Grady County Courthouse between the hours of 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. through Thursday, Dec. 31.
The ballot also includes the runoff between Sen. Kelly Loeffler and democratic challenger Rafael Warnock; and Public Service Commissioner Lauren “Bubba” McDonald, a republican, and Daniel Blackman, a democrat.
