Annual community health fair is next week

Being healthy takes some effort, but the results will make a difference for families. Wal-Mart and Grady General Hospital have joined forces with local organizations to present a free health fair so the citizens of Grady County will have access to essential health services for all ages and needs.
The fair will take place at Wal-Mart in Cairo on Thursday, Oct. 29, 2 p.m.-5 p.m.
Maintaining good health means more than just an annual doctor visit. The resource organizations at this health fair will offer information to help visitors prevent health problems and deal with chronic issues.
On hand will be free screenings and educational information.
Participating agencies are: Grady General Hospital (proper hand hygiene, medication management and medication cards), Georgia Farm Worker Clinic (blood pressure, heart rate, body mass index, height and weight, and HIV), Spinal and Nerve Institute (spinal assessments, education), Well Care of Georgia (insurance to low income families), Grady County Health Dept. (tobacco cessation, breast cancer education), Right from the Start Medicaid (education on insurance to low income families), Fitness Life (daily physical exercise), SBZ Counseling Services (mental and behavior therapy services), Grady Family Connection, Next Step Care Management (delivered meals, personal care/chore services, transportation, etc.), Bain (peer support advocacy for independent living skills), Georgia Cares (SouthWest GA Council on Aging), Grady General Hospital/Morrison’s Heath Care dietician, The Pregnancy Center of Cairo (free pregnancy tests), Peachstate, Georgia Center for Child Advocacy, Spring Creek Health Care, SOWGA Council on Aging, Amerigroup, Department of Family and Children’s Services, Wal-Mart vision center (vision exams), Wal-Mart pharmacist (answer medication questions).
