2nd annual Taste of the Town planned for March 8
The Grady General Support League has announced its plans for a Second Annual Taste of the Town featuring culinary delights from both commercial and home cooks in the Grady County area.
Money raised at the event will be used to buy a high powered microscope for the lab at Grady General Hospital.
Tickets are already for sale for the Saturday, March 8 event, which will take place at Grady Cultural Center from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. The $20 tickets are available at Ameris; Capital City Bank; Cairo-Grady County Chamber of Commerce; Cairo Eye Care; Kingfish Korners; Grady General Hospital; United National Bank; or from any member of the Grady General Support League Board of Directors.
In addition to traditional restaurant vendors, some of the best at-home chefs will showcase their unique food creations for all to taste during the event.
Grady General Support League is a volunteer organization that provides support, service and funds to our local hospital to improve the quality of care for the citizens of this community.
The Support League is raising money to buy a Nikon CI LED Ergonomic Microscope, which costs $5,800. Once in use, it could be used to count peripheral blood smears that would help technicians differentiate between neutrophils, lymphocytes, monocytes, basophils and eosinophils. The microscope could also help determine if a patient has anemia or vitamin deficiencies, and could show platelets so health workers could determine their number and size.
