Jewels and Jeans benefit auction at the Zebulon is next Friday night

One lucky ticket holder will walk away with a beautiful half-carat diamond during the Zebulon Theatre “Jewels and Jeans” benefit auction to be held Friday night at the community-owned theatre.
“Jewels and Jeans” is just one of the fund raising events planned as supporters seek to raise enough capital to purchase new digital projection equipment for the not-for-profit community theatre.
According to Zebulon officials, the motion picture industry will cease to distribute movies on celluloid film by December 2013. While this transition to a digital format has been underway for approximately a decade, the expense to purchase digital equipment has proven to be a barrier to small independent movie houses like The Zebulon.
Supporters say that “Jewels and Jeans” will be a fun way to help raise money for the Zebulon.
During the evening, participants will have the opportunity to purchase chances to win a half-carat diamond. Champagne glasses will be sold for $50 each and one of the glasses will contain the precious gem.
Advanced tickets are available by calling Candace Dickerson at 229-977-3846 or Robert Dykes at 229-378-7405. Tickets will also be available next Friday night. You must be present to win and all proceeds will benefit the Zebulon Digital Conversion Fund.
In addition to the “Diamond Drop,” the fundraiser next week will feature a live and silent auction.
Live auction items include two mountain getaways; a beach vacation; and a three-night stay in Chicago to see the Cubs play at Wrigley Field.
Silent auction items include home decor items, gym memberships, car detail gift cards, gift cards from various restaurants and much, much more.
Over $15,000 in live and silent auction items will be sold to the highest bidders.
Admission to “Jewels and Jeans” is free and Zebulon supporters encourage everyone to come have fun and show their support for the theatre.
