Funeral services for Mary Elizabeth Bennett Gainous, 84, of Grady County, GA, will be held on Sunday, October 25, 2009, at 3:00 p.m. at Springhill United Methodist Church, Whigham, GA.  Rev. Garth Duke-Barton  will officiate.  Interment will follow in Springhill United Methodist Church Cemetery.
Active pallbearers will be Phillip Shiver, Stephen Gainous, Jason Lynn, Mark Gainous, Keith Griffin, Phillip Womack, John Bailey, Scott Gainous, and Lucas Baggett. Mrs. Gainous passed away at Grady General Hospital on Thursday, October 22, 2009.
Mrs. Gainous was born in Decatur County, GA, on October 12, 1925, to the late John Henry Bennett and Katie Godwin Bennett.  She was retired from the W. B. Roddenbery Company and was a member of Springhill United Methodist Church.   
She is survived by:  son and daughter-in-law, Ronnie and June Gainous of Climax, GA; daughter and son-in-law, Sharon and Travis Baggett of Cairo, GA; grandchildren, Phillip Shiver of Baconton, GA, Stephen Gainous of Climax, GA, Jeri Gainous Lynn of Cairo, GA, Mark Gainous of Milledgeville, GA, Dori Griffin of Whigham, GA, Katie Womack of Quitman, GA, Brooke Bailey of Cairo, GA, Scott Gainous of Cairo, GA, Lucas Baggett of Cairo, GA and 11 great grandchildren.
Mrs. Gainous was preceded in death by: her husband, Perry Wilson Gainous in 1992; her son, Jerry Gainous in 1999; and her parents, John Henry and Katie Godwin Bennett.   
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday, from 6:00 p.m until 8:00 p.m.
