Authorities probe suspected arson

A Sunday morning fire is being investigated as a case of arson, according to Cairo Police.
The city police and fire departments were dispatched to a structural fire at 821 13th Street N.E. just after 1 a.m Sunday where they found a double wide trailer engulfed in flames.
Police were approached at the scene by an acquaintance of the residents of the burning structure and told that the fire could be the result of a domestic dispute. Police were also told that no one was at home at the time of the fire.
According to police reports, officers made contact with a 28-year-old woman, who is identified as one of the victims, and her daughter at a residence on 10th Avenue N.E. where they had attended a party earlier in the evening.
The victim’s husband had allegedly threatened to burn down the family’s residence. Shortly after the threat was made, the victim told police she was notified that her home was on fire.
According to the victim, she and her husband and daughter had attended the party together, but the husband had left. The victim tells police she received a phone call from her husband while she was still at the party and, allegedly, he told her he had set the residence on fire.
Officers were not able to locate the husband at the scene and, according to Grady County Sheriff’s Office booking reports, no suspect has been arrested in the incident.
The suspected arson is being investigated by city Arson Investigator Cole Prince and police Investigators Tony Turner and Giovannie Santos.
