Albert M. Harrell, Jr. passed away on Monday, May 21, 2012.
Albert
was born on June 21, 1932 in Chattanooga, Tennessee, to the late Albert
Moore Harrell, Sr. and the late Grace Elder Harrell of Eastman,
Georgia. He was a graduate of the Citadel, and was honored to serve his
country in the United States Army, obtaining the rank of Captain.
Albert married the late Floreida Judge Harrell on July 1, 1956, and they
subsequently made their home in Warner Robins. There, he retired from
AT&T in 1991 after thirty-five years.
Very active in the
community, Albert served as President of the Warner Robins Chamber of
Commerce, of the Warner Robins Rotary Club in 1977, and of the Warner
Robins ING at Robins Air Force Base. He was also a Board Member of the
Warner Robins United Way, served on the Houston County Board of Tax
Assessors, and was member of Central Baptist Church.
He is
survived by sons, Al Harrell (Claire Chason), Cairo, and Michael
Harrell, Warner Robins; former daughter-in-law, Varee Harrell, Warner
Robins; grandchildren, Brock, Bailey, Levi and Sophia Harrell; sister,
Gloria Harrell Eskew, Eastman; and nieces, Debbie Henson, Greenville,
South Carolina, Pam Sellars, Meigs, Georgia, Lauren Kaneskis, Wheeling,
West Virginia, and Katherine Brown, Davidson, North Carolina.
Visitation
will be Thursday, May 24, 2012 from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at
McCullough Funeral Home with a memorial service immediately following at
11:00 a.m. A private interment will take place in Hillcrest Cemetery,
Sylvester, Georgia. The family will accept flowers, or donations may be
given to the Central Baptist Church Building Fund, 1120 Lake Joy Road,
Warner Robins, GA 31088. McCullough Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
